Introducing 'The Trial' ... a collection of ten brand-new works by Dunedin-based artist Philip Madill.

Bringing monochrome colour to his work with a series of chalk pastel pieces, alongside several of his signature-style graphite drawings, this exhibition is an exclusive opportunity to view Madill's work at its very best. Combining the artist's love for both portraiture and history, the continued theme of 'an alternate past' has his subjects depicted using strange and unusual inventions and machines. A clear maturation in practice; worked with the same absolute precision and masterful technique.

The unique appeal of the works lies in the artist's ability to contrast the soft edges of the human body, incredibly rendered with depth and life, with the utilitarianism of the fantastical technologies.

Madill is a master of his craft, with work held in collections nationwide.
